DESCRIBE AN INTERESTING TV PROGRAM ABOUT SCIENCE

What was the topic?

When you watched it?

What you learnt from it? Why you found it so interesting"

Well, most of the times when I watch television I prefer watching educational shows which help me to learn something interesting and get entertained as well. Though, I have watched many science related programs yet I found Earth 2050 the most interesting which is related to environmental science. Few months ago, I was watching discovery channel where this program was telecast. I found this documentary so intriguing that I watched it for complete one hour. It was about the most pressing concern of Global warming and as per the assumptions of environmentalists it will be the reason of the end of life on this planet by 2050. By watching this program, I was able to understand the gravity of this problem. The facts and figures showed that how in just last 10 years the environment has changed dramatically. The surface temperature of planet earth is increasing and if it continues at the same rate, the polar ice will melt and the planet will be submerged in water. By watching this program, I also came to know that how climate change is already doing a harm and natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, wildfires, tornadoes, bringing huge loss of life and property in different parts of the world. All this is happening because human is playing with the nature and at the end, there was a message that it is already too late and without the sincere efforts of each and every individual, the planet cannot be saved. Overall, this show not only educated me but also inspired me to contribute to save the environment

Ans I am very frequent in watching such shows and I am regular viewer of channels like National Geographic. Discovery Science etcetera I watch shows like How it made. Time Warped. Science of Stupid's, Myth Busters and others to enhance my knowledge about the concepts of different fields of science. When I was younger I used to binge watch Myth Busters on Sunday

2 How important is the broadcast of such shows?

as far as I can understand, they are very much important via these shows a person can gain knowledge about different science fields along with entertainment. Also, such infotainment programmes are of great significance in this complex world where students need to be updated regarding technology and science in order to survive this competitive era.

Q3 How has technology changed the classrooms of today?

Ans. Today's classrooms are well equipped with technological gadgets like smart boards. They provide audio visual study materials which makes it easy for the students to understand difficult theories. Also, virtual labs are there in which different science experiments be them of physics, chemistry or biology. can be performed digitally without needing any raw material or physical lab

Q4. Is Learning science through technology easier than learning through textbooks?

Ans. Yes of course it is. Technology has made it easier to understand the complex theories of various science fields like physics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, chemistry etcetera Because virtual illustrations in the form of animation are much easier to get that the word written in textbooks. Technology has made study interactive which is not the case in books

Q5. Are today's students more interested in studying science than other subjects?

Ans. I think yes. Nowadays, students are more interested in learning science than any other field. The major reason I can think of is the job opportunities. By studying science students can become engineers, doctors, pathologist, software designer etcetera.
