ll, it is not uncommon to see people arguing when their ideas and beliefs do not match. It results in debate even on very minor issues. Let me share one such incident when my friends got into heated argument that took place when we were working on a group assignment. Actually, when I was in grade 10th and as a part of final assessment we had to work on a group project. We four friends had to work on a science topic of our choice and complete it in one-week time. We had to make a working model to demonstrate, write an analytical report and also on the given date. Since, the work was too much rather than managing and distributing equally two members of our team started arguing with each other. They were not willing to accept each other's idea of the choice of topic for assignment. Both were thinking they are right the other one is wrong. In fact, they started accusing and blaming each other for being part of the same team. Soon the verbal fight turned unto a real one and at this point my other friend and I intervened. We stopped them and requested to stop this nonsense as if we are not going to work together we could never complete the work in time. In fact we rejected the ideas of both of them as they were extremely time consuming. We sat in the canteen and ordered cold drinks. Once my friends calmed down we requested them to feel sorry to each other and start focusing on work. Though, it was not easy to convince them but finally they agreed and we all were happy now. Overall, it was the time when my friends got into fierce argument.
Follow ups:-
Q1. Do you think arguments are important?
Ansl. Yes, sometimes arguments are important especially when we want to take an important decision. There can be different situations and different scenarios Different people can think in different ways. So, if they would have an argument with each other that means they want to justify their point of view otherwise everyone would be following the same idea so sometimes it is good to have arguments to come up with new and better ideas.
Q2 What do family members generally argue about?
Ans2 Arguments are quite frequent in families in my country Arguments are generally among parents and children especially teenagers who think that they have the right to do anything and want to do the things in their own ways, so when their parents do not agree to what they think, there is generally an argument among them. However, husbands and wives can have arguments for no reason (funny tone).
Q3. Is it easier for you to have arguments with your friends or your family members?
Ans3. To be very honest I have arguments more frequently with my parents and the reason is the same. I feel that I should have the right to take my own decisions and make my own choices, but my parents always give their own suggestions or do not let me do what I want to do. However, it is not the case with my friends, so I have more arguments with my parents
Q4. Do you think people should change the way they think when they have arguments"
Ans4 I agree to this idea. Actually, most people who argue later realize that they were wrong but by the time it is too late. Hence, it is a recommended that people should change the way they think to avoid arguments to a great extent or at least unnecessary ones.
Q5 If two people argue, do you think a third person should be involved in the settlement?
Ans5 It is human's intent that when we see people arguing we try to intervene and stop them. For example, we always intervene and stop our friends from arguing and settle the situation because if we do not control the situation without intervening, situation can get really had. So, it is important that we should try to stop the conflict or the arguments as soon as possible.
Q6. Why do you think people are stubborn and unwilling to change
Ans6. Yes, I have personally experienced, some people are very adamant, whatever they come up with an opinion in their minds, they do not want to change because they think that only they are right and rest all are wrong. They are not willing to change their position because they do not try to think from other's perspective. So, this is primarily the reason because the time people think from others perspective, they realize that they can also be wrong but usually people are too stubborn to think the other way.
Q7. Do you think you are stubborn?
Ans7. Yes, I am stubborn in some cases but I believe that I am not such a person that who never change because if someone tries to convince me with better ideas and opinions, I don't mind changing myself but sometimes if I want something from my parents, in that case I show stubborn attitude.
Q8. Will you be willing to change?
Ans8 As said, I am not too stubborn. I show such kind of attitude only with my parents if I want something and If my parents agree to that I am very happy, but if they try to make me understand that you are wrong or your demand is not appropriate, in that case I happily change and yes in future also I will change myself.
