TALK ABOUT A CRIME YOU WERE INVOLVED IN

When it was

What crime it was

Why you got involved How did you feel

Well, most of us do not have any criminal intent, yet once in a while  we get involved in wrongdoings intentionally or unintentionally. Here I would like to narrate an incident when I was caught for committing a crime and was penalized for the same. I vividly remember I was almost fifteen years old. Most teenagers of my age are curious to nde motor bikes. I requested my father many times to teach me how to ride a bike but he always refused to do so and warned me not to try until you turn 18 as it is illegal to ride a vehicle for underaged ones I always used to keep on thinking and dreaming riding a bike at full speed. One day, I was home alone. I took it as an opportunity and invited one of my friends at home and out of curiosity we took the bike on the main road. I was driving it comfortably with my friend sitting behind and all of a sudden, a traffic police officer stopped us at an intersection for not wearing helmet and when he enquired about the driving licence we got numb. The officer said, it is a crime to drive without a licence and since we were underaged too he arrested us. My father arrived at the police station as soon as he got the news and he pleaded the officer to release us. We promised the officer that it will not happen again, but my father had to pay 5000ts fine which was huge. At this point my father was very angry for not beying him but I apologised my father and felt sorry whole- heartedly and said I have learnt the lesson and I will not get involved in any ill-activity again.

Why do people commit crime?

1. It's quite unfortunate to see people committing crime these days. The prime reason behind is unemployment and poverty. People who do not have enough resources to manage their livelihood they often commit crime to earn money through unfair means.

Q2 What kind of punishment do people get if they commit a crime?

Ans2. Well, it totally depends on the crime they commit because if the crime is minor and if the person who commit crime is also minor then they have to do some kind of community work or unpaid work as a punishment but if it is serious crime then the punishment can be life imprisonment or it can be jail or death sentence too.

Q3. What is the contribution of society in making a person culprit?

Ans3. I think to some extent society is culprit for example, if a person has completed his jail term and he come backs to society but people still consider him as a criminal, eventually, force the person to commit crime and similarly people who are associated with criminal such as family members, are also considered criminal by society members. Hence, society is culprit behind.

Q4. Have you ever witnessed any crime in your life?

Ans4 Actually, I have once I was going to the market when I saw two bikers who came from behind and snatched the mobile phone from a girl who was walking down the street and they disappeared in no time and it is unfortunate but snatching is a common crime in my area.
